A File Manager tool is found in all website hosting Control Panels. As the name implies, it's used to command the files inside an account and all File Managers support a range of basic functions - browsing, moving, copying and deleting files. Certain Control Panels may offer more advanced functions also - changing file and folder permissions or creating and unpacking archives. Although files may be uploaded and downloaded through an FTP client, the File Manager is used much more often, so the simpler to use it is, the easier it shall be for you to handle your presence online in its entirety. The opposite is also true - a File Manager that's difficult to use may make it more frustrating and difficult for you to control your website content, particularly if you lack previous experience.

File Manager in Hosting

The File Manager tool, which is a part of our in-house developed Hepsia Control Panel, allows you to administer all of the files you upload to your hosting account easily. You are able to move files and whole folders by dragging-and-dropping them inside the account. You can easily upload content in the same manner - choose a file/folder on your PC and drag it to your Internet browser in which the File Manager is loaded. By right-clicking a file or a folder inside your account, you can also access context menus with more sophisticated options - you shall be able to set up or to unpack an archive, to create a password-protected area, to change the UNIX permissions through a web interface or to change the content with a variety of editors without ever leaving the Control Panel – a plain text editor, a code editor or an HTML editor. We've also provided help articles and educational videos, which you may access right from the File Manager to learn more about its capabilities.

File Manager in Semi-dedicated Servers

Our File Manager tool will enable you to do practically anything you need. It is an element of the Hepsia CP, provided with all semi-dedicated server accounts and in addition to the normal features such as renaming, copying or deleting files, you will be able to use right-click menus in order to access more advanced ones. With a couple of mouse clicks, you shall be able to password-protect any folder inside the account, to change the UNIX permissions in case a script-based application requires it or to alter the content of any file using plain text, WYSIWYG editors and code. What's more, you will no longer need an FTP program to upload new content as you can just drag-and-drop files and entire folders from your laptop or computer directly to the File Manager. The tool shall do the rest, saving the folder structure of the content you upload.
